Why “Mountains of the Moon™”?

Our vanilla and cocoa are cultivated around the foothills of the Rwenzori mountain range in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ever since Greek antiquity legend had it that these ice-capped mountains, known as the Lunae Montes (Latin for Mountains of the Moon), were the mythical source of the Nile.
Today they are part of the Virunga National Park, its forests among others home to the rare Mountain Gorillas. From these mountains our products derive their name Mountains of the Moon.
